James Robertson Justice was an actor known for playing formidably gruff characters, possibly the best-known of which was Sir Lancelot Spratt in the Doctor film series. He was educated at Marlborough College, where my father had also gone to school. So when we were on holiday in Dornoch in 1964 and my father saw Robertson Justice walking into the local post office, he left us in the car, saying "I'll just go and say hello". He arrived back a few moments later looking somewhat crestfallen. What happened, Dad? "Well, I walked up and stood next to him and said 'Floreat Marlburia'.
